SKETCHBOOKS

I used to love working on location and in sketchbooks at University, but after a busy Picture book career and having my third child I felt very lost creatively. Early in 2020 I suddenly felt the need to take control again of my work, I packed a small sketchbook and some pencils on a family holiday...I managed 3 drawings in a week, but what those three drawings managed was giving me confidence and happiness in my work again.

In the last 3 years sketchbooks have become a really important part of my professional development. They have brought me joy and pushed forward my practise in unexpected ways. I have filled more than I ever expected and find them a great place to test ideas, mark making and materials.
